The word “vocation” comes from the Latin word vocare which means to be called. The big question is what are we being called to? We are all called to become saints- to be holy in this life. God has a unique plan for each of us and calls us in a particular way to respond to this universal call to holiness in specific way of life. This is how God calls us to serve Him in the world. Whether it be to live out this Catholic Christian call to holiness in married life, as an ordained priest or deacon, in consecrated life, or dedicated single life, each of us is called to determine which way of life God is calling us to, and to embrace it with a free and generous heart. This process of determining God's call for your life is known as discernment.
This process of determining God's call for your life is known as discernment. This is a process rooted in prayer to hear the voice of God in your life, to distinguish that voice from our own and that of the world. Identify and hearing the will of God in this noisy and busy culture can be challenging. If you are seeking more guidance about vocational discernment or are discerning specifically the call to priesthood, permanent diaconate or the consecrated life, please contact a member of the pastoral team. We would love to speak with you!
